The World Tamil Historical Society (WTHS) is honored to present this event to celebrate Maaveerar Naal (Heroes’ Day), a day of remembrance and tribute to the valiant Tamil warriors who laid down their lives in the name of Tamil Eelam. On November 27, we remember and pay homage to the courage, bravery, and sacrifice of Tamil freedom fighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the battle for liberty, justice, and equality.
The Significance of Maaveerar Naal
Maaveerar Naal is a day of remembrance and tribute to the fallen heroes of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). It is a day to remember their sacrifice, courage, and dedication to the Tamil cause. Every year, WTHS commemorates the day by bringing the Tamil community from all over the world together to pay homage to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for Tamil freedom. The event is a reminder of the cost of freedom and the courage it takes to stand up for what one believes in, even in the face of adversity.
WTHS to Commemorate Heroes of Tamil Eelam
WTHS will be hosting an interactive event this year dedicated to those who gave their lives. Documentaries, first hand accounts, and panel discussions will help us remember those Maaveerars (Great Heroes). WTHS will be commemorating both the soldiers as well as the countless civilians who supported them with their blood and lives.

Unity and Strength in Remembrance
Maaveerar Naal is a day for us to remember and pay homage to our past and renew our commitment to their cause: a free, just and equal society. At the same time, WTHS hopes that this event will send a clear message to Tamil youth about the importance of unity within the Tamil diaspora and to learn from our history and from our mistakes, to stand up for the rights and dignity of the Tamil people. We must remember the Maaveerars not only with words, but with our actions.
Join WTHS in remembering and paying tribute to the Maaveerars, their courage, and their undying sacrifice to the Tamil cause.
