World Tamil Historical Society (WTHS) proudly presents a Karumpulligal-Naal (Dark Spot Remembrance Day) special event! Join us to relish Natural Skincare Recipes and Remedies. As we celebrate this important day, we are also remembering the timeless beauty remedies and the holistic approach to self-care that are part of Tamil heritage.

Embracing Natural Remedies

Karumpulligal-Naal is a day that pays tribute to the Tamil people’s understanding of health and beauty. This special event at WTHS will focus on how the Tamil community has used natural products to take care of their skin. Everyone struggles with common skin problems such as dark spots and other discolorations. WTHS’s event will show a wide range of natural treatments. We have a long history of using natural things like lemon juice and papaya paste to keep our skin healthy. Participants will be able to learn about these traditional treatments and how to use them with the help of experts who will give them step-by-step instructions on how to make these remedies at home.

WTHS Celebrates Tamil Wisdom

Hosted by WTHS, as part of the event there will be workshops highlighting the benefits of natural remedies for self-care routines. Focusing on areas of the body like the skin is key, with special emphasis to be placed on Karumpulligal-Naal. For example, there is a workshop that covers time-tested treatments that rely on natural ingredients like aloe vera, honey and milk. These age-old solutions have for centuries been a part of Tamil cultural tradition and are still commonly used for their benefits like repairing and rejuvenation of skin, including the reduction of dark spots. Dark circles and skin discoloration are common concerns for all skin types and using natural ingredients has become a popular way to promote clear, radiant and healthy skin. During the workshops, WTHS will demonstrate that self-care can be simple, cost-effective and closer to home than one might think.

Natural Healing in the Modern World

Building on the workshops that focus on self-care for specific body parts like skin and hair, WTHS is organizing a panel with dermatologists and skincare specialists. They will be talking about the need to make space for natural remedies in contemporary times, but also the importance of using products like sunscreen and gentle cleansers to avoid any further damage after using these treatments.
