Diwali event

Diwali is a special and a popular festival in India. The festival of lights could be called the Christmas of India, which keeps everyone waiting for the big day. It is also known as Deepavali in the Tamil language. The festival stems from the Hindu mythology that varies across the nation.

Festival of Inclusivity

Diwali means victory, new start, peace and restoration. Tamil people celebrate festivals from other religions and cultures as their own. Even though Diwali has its roots in the Hindu religion, it is celebrated by other people too. In general, even Muslims and Christians take part in this festival.

Diwali or Deepavali could also be called a festival of the Tamils. It highlights the inclusivity of Tamil people who tend to deeply respect and enjoy the values shared by people of different beliefs

Family, food and celebrations

The lamps, fireworks and the lights are some of the must-have elements and are special symbols which represent the beauty of Tamil culture. The special day of Diwali offers them the best opportunity to reunite with their loved ones. To make the occasion more special, they cook traditional meals and dine together. It sheds light on the importance of togetherness.

Besides the magnificent celebrations, it is also a festival of cleansing and purity. It is meant for both internal and external cleansing to make one pure. It involves people rearranging and replacing the old belongings with the new ones, marking the importance of a new beginning every year.

These celebrations guide people of the next generation in treating the traditions of Tamil culture with utmost diligence. The ancient Tamil culture has its own significance in celebrating festivals. Regular engagement in our culture is crucial to keep the tradition alive. It also helps us keep a constant reminder of our identity as Tamils.

On this remarkable day, let us join together to celebrate our culture. Let the lamps drive away the darkness of our lives and invite goodness into our lives. We are also eager to have everyone participate in the magical part of the day, with bursting fireworks.
